Experience a day filled with music, dance, and hands-on fun at Colburn! Explore our popular instrument petting zoo, catch live performances from our brass ensemble, choir, and dance students, watch an open ballet class in action, take a chance to conduct a live band, and join an interactive theatre workshop. With performances and activities happening throughout the day, there’s something to discover around every corner!

DATALAND at The Grand LA  

Join DATALAND co-founders Refik Anadol and Efsun Erkılıç, together with members of the Refik Anadol Studio team, for a limited preview of LATENT SPACE by DATALAND.

Opening soon on Grand Avenue, just steps from DATALAND’s museum location, LATENT SPACE is DATALAND’s cultural salon. It is a place where artists, scientists, technologists, filmmakers, and curious minds gather for landmark lectures, intimate conversations, creative coding, screenings, and shared evenings

The preview offers a taste of what’s to come, with insight into the plans for LATENT SPACE’s future programming, including public talks, intimate salons, collaborative coding gatherings, screenings, community evenings, cultural celebrations, and exploratory conversations

As both a physical and conceptual expansion of DATALAND, LATENT SPACE embodies the museum’s vision as a place for gathering, exchange, and discovery – a living environment where ideas meet, communities form, and new possibilities become visible.

Grand Performances  

Grand Performances, in partnership with PBS SoCal, will present Lucha x Sound: Music, Masks and Culture at California Plaza as part of Grand Avenue Arts: All Access. This free, family-friendly celebration will bring together live music, lucha libre exhibitions, film, and interactive activities that honor the rich cultural traditions of Mexican wrestling and its enduring influence on contemporary Los Angeles. The event coincides with PBS SoCal’s Legends of Lucha Libre documentary series, which explores the history, artistry, and cultural impact of lucha libre in Mexico and Southern California. By combining music, performance, storytelling, and community engagement, Lucha x Sound offers audiences of all ages an opportunity to experience how lucha libre continues to shape identity, creativity, and popular culture while celebrating the vibrant connections between heritage and contemporary artistic expression. 

Gloria Molina Grand Park  

Join us for the vibrant opening of Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Downtown Día de los Muertos. Grounded in this year’s theme—The Living Loom of Ancestral Knowledge and Storytelling—this annual celebration focuses on life, lineage, and belonging through the visual and conceptual power of weaving. Experience a day filled with cultural performances, community installations, and family friendly workshops. By sharing our individual stories, photos, and memories, we add our unique threads to a vast, cross-generational tapestry of resilience. Open to all, Downtown Día de los Muertos honors our ancestors and unites our community in a lively, sacred space. 

LA Opera  

Join us for a day of art and music at the LA Opera Open House! Be among the first to see the unveiling of a breathtaking new painted curtain on the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage, and meet its creator, renowned artist Enrique Martínez Celaya. That’s not all! Stay for a captivating concert featuring highlights from our upcoming 2026/27 season, performed by the incredible rising stars of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program. Plus, bring the whole family for fun, interactive activities on the plaza for kids of all ages! 

LA Phil 
The LA Phil will host a community engagement booth at Jerry Moss Plaza. The activation is designed to welcome attendees and connect the our community with LA Phil programs and resources.

Los Angeles Central Library  

Come see the World’s Largest Pop-Up Book, “Luceros Y Penumbras” and join us for family friendly, hands-on activities like a Sugar Skull workshop and Repujado (Tin Embossing) Workshop. Adults can participate in a Chalk Art Drawing class or a “Learn to Read Music with Percussion” class.

The Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Master Chorale – America’s most celebrated professional chorus – will present a day of fun activities for the whole family. September 12 – December 13, 2026

REDCAT offers a 12pm tour of their group exhibition Flesh Witness, which brings together contemporary artists whose work examines global histories and ongoing conditions of militarism across Asia and the Pacific. Focusing on the Korean Peninsula, Okinawa, the Philippines, Hawai‘i, and Samoa, the group exhibition examines how military power is inscribed in landscapes, bodies, and archives, revealing how imperial dominance has been established and maintained through intervention and occupation throughout the region. Flesh Witness includes artworks spanning from the 1970s to newly created work, ranging from video to sculpture, photography, mixed media, and installation. 

The exhibition takes its title from participating artist Kyuri Jeon’s video work, The Flesh-Witness, which revisits American archival documentation of Korean War prisoners who were forcibly tattooed with anti-communist slogans. Expanding on Jeon’s exploration of the body as a living record of imperial/state violence, the artists in Flesh Witness recover and reinterpret these inscriptions of power embedded in official state footage, newspaper archives, photographs, naming conventions, plants, and coastlines. 

Throughout, artists foreground intergenerational memory and Indigenous knowledge that persist beyond official archives, and illuminate practices of ecological stewardship and activism that sustain communities living with the ongoing consequences of militarized occupation. These artists recover and investigate the marks of martial presence carried by bodies, landscapes, and living ecologies, unsettling official colonial histories and presenting alternative narratives for understanding the past and imagining a different future. 

In a present moment marked by border violence, territorial occupation, genocide, and ecological crisis, Flesh Witness reimagines the Pacific region through the intersecting legacies of military imperialism and envisions new shared futures of Oceanic peoples and diasporas.
