SUMMARY:REDCAT: Exhibition Tour - All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Gr
 ace
DESCRIPTION:REDCAT is pleased to offer two curator-led tours of the exhibit
ion All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace\, with Deputy Director an
d Chief Curator of Visual Arts Daniela Lieja Quintanar and Assistant Curat
or Talia Heiman. The tours will begin at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. The gallery
  will be open from 11:00 am-6:00 pm.\n\nIn 1967\, poet Richard Brautigan i
magined a coming future\, “where mammals and computers / live together i
n mutually / programming harmony.” The resulting proliferation of these
technologies has now radically altered every area of life. Borrowing its t
itle from Brautigan’s poem\, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grac
e addresses one of the most pressing issues of our time—the impact of ar
tificial intelligence—by proposing alternative directions for its future
and how it changes the relationship between the human and non-human. Pres
enting a broad range of art forms\, including visual art and performance\,
this exploration offers alternatives rooted in indigenous belief systems\
, and feminist\, queer\, and decolonial imaginaries. Neither the utopia im
agined by Brautigan nor the dystopia feared today\, the alternative approa
ches proposed by artists can inform the next generation of AI\, grounded i
 n diverse conceptions of technology\, cognition\, and life.\n\nParticipati
ng artists include Nora Al-Badri\, Minne Atairu\, Stephanie Dinkins\, Mash
inka Firunts Hakopian with Dahlia Elsayed and Andrew Demirjian\, Interspec
 ifics\, Kite\, Charmaine Poh\, Sarah Rosalena\, and Kira Xonorika.
